The melting pot culture of Hawaii reflected in the new Queens’ MarketPlace at the Waikoloa Beach Resort.

Slated for a soft opening in early October, the 135,000-square-foot market will feature more than 70 shops and eateries that will attract the business of both visitors and residents of the Big Island.

The concept of Queens’ MarketPlace was conceived by developer Thos Rohr, president of Waikoloa Land Co. The design aspect has been brought to reality by Honolulu architect Ted Gardique.

For Queens’ MarketPlace, Gardique and Rohr developed a unique design scheme that incorporates well-known icons of various cultures, such as the Iolani Palace bandstand, a Chinese pagoda, buildings in downtown Honolulu and Hilo and a traditional Japanese koi pond.
